Achievement and Good Practice

Since 2005, PE plus+ has enhanced the quality of school PE and Sport through a number of exciting projects and initiatives.

Creating an exciting curriculum

At PE Plus we are currently working with all our schools to provide a unique and excting curriculum made for the 21st century.  Close consulation between our PE specialist and the school PE coordinator we are able to devise a worthwhile, engaging and innovative curriculum to enspire the children we teach.  Staying within the confines of the existing NCPE we are piloting activities such as Aussie Rules, Lacrosse, Frisbee, Dodgeball, Body Combat, Breakdancing and Parkour to fulfil the breadth of study requirements.

Displays

PE plus+ aim to raise the profile of PE and Sport across the whole school. Through the use imaginative and striking displays in key areas, pupils, staff and visitors have a greater awareness of the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle and being actively involved in school sporting activities. The displays also act as a showcase to others highlighting the work done within PE lessons.

Use of ICT

The staff at PE plus+ focus on the inclusion of ICT in PE. The use of digital cameras and IPads' has been an added bonus within lessons, allowing pupils instant feedback opportunities as well as extending their ability at using hardware. Video footage focusing on skills, movement patterns and technical points has been invaluable in allowing the pupils to compare, analyse and evaluate within minutes of performing such skills.

Developing Units of Work

Constantly developing, PE plus+ Units of Work have pushed the boundaries of children’s learning and attainment. The major projects completed have seen PE plus+ develop a comprehensive 6-week unit of work, including resources for Outdoor and Adventurous Activities, SAQ and multi skills, Aussie Rules, and Lacrosse

Extra Curricular clubs

The introduction to many schools of regular extra curricular clubs has proved to be a huge success with lunchtime supervisors, parents and children alike. Quality expert coaching or just fun, safe, organised activities has seen an improvement in pupil’s motivation, behaviour and sense of achievement.

Gifted and Talented Clubs/Academies

PE Plus+ have successfully worked with the Yorvik and Ebor School Sports Partnerships to deliver  multi skills and talent identification programme. The Ebor Partnership tasked PE Plus+ with delivering 10 weeks of MSC’s to 26 primary schools in the partnership. Our coaches then selected the very best boys and girls from the clubs to attend a summer sports academy, again organised and delivered by PE Plus+. The academy was a huge success with further partnership work with community clubs in the area. The Yorvik Partnership delivered their multi skills programme through the use of PE Plus+. Six weeks of clubs were delivered in each of the ‘families’ with the best children being invited to attend an after school academy the following term.
